You’ve conquered the most elusive of golfing achievements — the holy grail: a hole-in-one! Your peers will want you to regale them with every glorious detail of this almost impossible feat: the swing, the breeze, the bounce, the gasp. Your miraculous shot will become folklore. Statues may be built. Your name will be etched in history. The ball itself will be handed down from generation to generation — a talisman, a sacred relic, a symbol of all that humankind can achieve. That’s what you think…The truth is, most people aren’t remotely interested in your account of how you made your hole-in-one. However, they might just tolerate yours — if you pour them a generous dram of this fine whisky to numb the pain while you drone on about it for a few minutes.

A great gift for someone to commemorate their Hole in One (1).

Origin

Ardmore

located right on the Highlands/Speyside border in the middle of the rural Aberdeenshire wilderness. Opened in 1898 in the late Victorian era the distillery was opened in an area that had a water, barley, peat supply right next to the railway. Since Beam-Suntory took over in 2006 things have rapidly started to change.

The release of single malt expressions, including several well received 25-30-year-old bottlings have built up a following with many Malt aficionados.

Laphroaig

Laphroaig (pronounced 'La-froig') means 'the beautiful hollow by a broad bay' in Gaelic. Laphroaig has been the only whisky to carry the Royal Warrant of the Prince of Wales, which was awarded in person during a visit to the distillery in 1994. The 15-year-old is reportedly then Prince and now King Charles' favourite whisky.

Laphroaig calls itself "the most richly flavoured of all Scotch whiskies"

Tasting Notes

Aroma (Nose):
Earthy, soft smoke comes through with stone fruits and a little citrus. Sweet honey and vanilla fudge sit in the background.

Taste (Palate):
The peat is earthy, oily with a little heather, a touch of medicinal flavour also comes through, perhaps from the Islay cask. Honey sweetness and apricots come through next with ginger, spice and a little herbal note that sits in the background.

Finish:
The spice persists, but so does the sweetness and waves of sweet smoke. The smoke dies away as the spice and a touch of oaky dryness persist.

Overall Impression:
This whisky feels beautifully balanced between gentle peat and layered sweetness.
